Bongsan Talchum is a mask dance handed down in Bongsan area. Along with Gangryeong Talchum, it represented the peak of Haeseo Talchum through the 19th and 20th century. The mask dance was performed on a large scale on the Dano Festival in May, and occasionally when receiving envoys from China, welcoming a newly appointed governors, etc.
Bongsan Talchum is three-dimensional, luxurious in costume, dynamic and energetic in motions, and bears a continental mood.
Masks used in Bongsan Talchum are made mainly of paper, and cloth, hair, leather, earth, bamboo, etc. are also used supplementarily.
