In Byeolsingut in the east coast, Talgut is performed following Cheonwanggut or Nondongwoogut. The characters are Yangban, Halmu (Halmi) Clown, Seoulagi, Sabburi, and Uiwon (Doctor). They all wear paper masks, exchanging dialogue and dancing.
The play starts with an old story that Yangban mistreats her wife Halmi and throws her out because she is ugly and admits Seoulagi, a gisaeng, as a concubine. The dismissed Halmi and her son Sabburi leave on a journey to find Yangban. Finding that Yangban and Seoulagi are happy with each other, they fight with Seoulagi, and in the course, Yangban suddenly falls down and dies. A shaman is called and asked to tell what has happened. She says that Yangban has been taken by an evil spirit of lovesickness, so his heart must be solaced by a shaman from Seoul. Then Uiwon comes and revives Yangban, and Yangban, Halmi, Sabburi and Seoulagi are all reconciled with one another and leave. At a different story, Uiwon cannot revive Yangban and Bongsa (Blind Man) fails to save him through chanting Buddhist sutra, but the shaman revives him by practicing an exorcism.
