Songpa Sandae Nori have been handed down at Songpa Ferry Port in Seoul. The port is on the Han River, one of the greatest five river in Korea, and where was held Songpa Market, one of the fifteen largest local markets nationwide in the late Chosun Dynasty. Songpa Sandae Nori was developed with the support of merchants in the market. Performers were mostly commoners working at the market and ferry port, trading, liquor selling, working on board, etc. Sandae Nori was performed on Daeboreum (the fifth of January by the lunar calendar), the 8th of April, Dano, Baejung and Chuseok (the Harvest Moon Festival).
